CropBooster-P Survey on Communication to Future-Proof European Crops Has Been Launched

Source: Euroseeds

Euroseeds launched a survey as part of the Horizon 2020-funded Cropbooster-P project to assess how the seed and breeding sector among other stakeholder groups communicate on crop improvement and seeds in Europe. The obtained results will help Euroseeds to identify trends, good practices, gaps and needs related to communication.

The Cropbooster-P project aims to develop a roadmap for future-proofing our food system and the European bioeconomy, with a specific focus on making crop production more sustainable, resilient, and responsible. In its strategy, Cropbooster-P involves and interacts with a wide range of societal actors including scientists, breeders, businesses, farmers, consumers/citizens, and policy makers, to align the process and its outcomes with the values, needs and expectations of society.

A key aspect to succeed is effective communication, so one of the work packages of the Cropbooster-P project elaborates on an appropriate strategy to improve public awareness and trust ensuring a sufficient understanding and uptake of novel technologies relative to crop improvement and seeds in Europe. Together with other consortium members, Euroseeds is assessing among different societal actors including farmers, breeders and EU policy makers what their knowledge, experience and needs are related to communication.

The survey is anonymous and available in 10 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Romanian, Danish, Dutch and Greek and will take up to 15 minutes to complete.

Are you active in the seed & breeding sector? Complete the survey on behalf of yourself or on behalf of the organization you work for by clicking on this link.
The obtained results will help us to identify trends, good practices, gaps and needs related to communication across Europe. Based on the results of the survey, we will formulate recommendations for a conceptual framework on effective communication strategies with different target groups and on how to develop broad societal support for the improvement of crops and seeds in Europe. Together with other elements of the Cropbooster-P project, this will contribute to develop a roadmap for future-proofing our food systems. More information about the CropBooster-P project is available on the website.
